Simple Things In Life

Image
It was a typical school day morning, except that nature decided to pour down showers of rain, which have been quite frequent of late.  After the children have gone to school, I settled comfortably on our sofa (which I rarely do) looking out the door, admiring at how interestingly the rain drops drizzle down the mango tree leaves, onto our car and how it makes such beautiful splashes of art onto the cement porch floor. Some trickled down slowly onto the flowers. There was just a light and gentle breeze, enough to bring a refreshing reminder of the awesomeness and faithfulness of God. Sometimes it just takes a few minutes to capture and appreciate the simple things in life. These times can be easily missed and taken for granted in the midst of our own daily pursuits and busyness of life.  As December is drawing near, my prayer is that we will continue to reflect and learn from the past, enjoy the present (yes, with the challenges and all, reminder to self too...

A year end story 2015

Looking back 12 years ago, God's answered prayer to us - a baby girl was born in the Christmas month of December. Every prayer that we prayed was faithfully answered by our heavenly Father.  As we already had a son, so naturally we prayed earnestly for a girl.   The thought of going through 13 hours of gruelling and excruciating labour pain when my son was born motivated me to pray more specifically for just 3 things. Firstly, for a short and quick labour, under 2 hours would be ideal with no painkillers ! The prayer was answered. Secondly, as financially we were tight, we prayed we would be able to get a 4 bedded room. We got it. Thirdly, that  both mummy and baby would be healthy and 1 night hospital stay would be sufficient (cost saving). And God answered that as well and we were happily discharged a day after my daughter was born ! It turned out my daughter was a healthy and ACTIVE little bundle of joy !!! And God surprised us with a bubbly a...

A Big God

Image
You have a God who hears you The power of love behind you The Holy Spirit within you And all of heaven ahead of you. by Max Lucado Recently my daughter participated in her school sports day event. She gave her best, she fell half way through the race, but she mustered the strength to pick herself up to continue the race and her team came in third place. Her goal was to take a medal home and she did.  On the same day, my son fell from his bicycle and injured his ankle which required stiches. I must say he was very brave enduring the whole procedure. Life still went on for him, jumping around on one leg ! I am reminded that no matter how many times we fall, our heavenly Father will never leave us nor forsake us. He will pick us up. Yet we fail to see and believe in our big and mighty God who can do the impossible. If we could just humbly ask of Him in child like faith, He will hear us. Matthew 11 :28-30 " Come to Me, all you who labor and are...

My Father....

Image
My father   knew   his   time had come. He was asking me to visit him more often, once a week to have breakfast with him. He expressed his wish to see his grandkids, Andrew & Jody. Andrew often played chinese chess with him and often times he won. My father also played Scrabble with Jody and she would often draw or write something for him. My father liked to show off his little magic   tricks like making a twenty cent coin disappear and enjoys watching his grand kids in all their playful and mischievioius antics. He also seemed to be more obliged when asked to take photos together as a family which in the past he will expressed his irritation when too much time is taken on the photo taking.   He updated his notes and   diary more frequently, the last on 22nd June, 8 days before he passed away. I still remember the last face to face conversation we had in the car before I dropped him home after cel...
